Description

Fr 2-3 is an extremely faint nebula in the constellation Caelum, to my knowledge this is the first photograph of it ever taken. I ran across Fr 2-3 while doing some Oiii surveys of the Orion area last year. This showed up as an interesting signal, and so I parked the telescope here for a couple weeks to get a better look at it.

The only information of note about this nebula on HASH comes from a note made in 2020 by Sakib Rasool: "Might be an outlying part of the Orion-Eridanus superbubble".

From this new imagery, I think it is more likely to be isolated from the superbubble structure. The central star of this nebula is MCT 0455-2818, a well studied white dwarf star.

Morphologically it reminds me a lot of StDr98

This nebula was very tough to edit, it is excruciatingly faint! I hope you all enjoy it.
