Description

This was an experiment with my custom folder refractor 2250 mm achromat. Usually you will experience chromatic aberrations with a color camera and an achromatic telescope. However I found a way around that problem.

First a duplicate of the initial stacked image was made and its color enhanced in several stages and then slightly blurred so as to remove the obvious chromatic aberration. That was set aside as the color layer exactly like a deep sky RGB image. Then the initial stacked image was separated into its RGB components. The clarity of each component was analyzed. The G component was the clearest, and it was set aside for further enhancement. The enhanced G component was then used as the luminosity layer over the RGB layer described above.

That's it. As you can see there is no color aberration in the final image. It's not a perfect solution and perhaps you may not get as good as color definition as with an APO scope. But it seemed to work, at least for this lunar image where the color changes are generally less defined. In any case, you be the judge.
