Description

NGC 1502 is a small open cluster consisting of about forty-five stars. It is located in the constellation Camelopardalis and was discovered by William Herschel in 1787.

This cluster is part of an asterism named in 1980, “Kemble's Cascade”, in honor of a Franciscan friar, Father Lucian Kemble, who acknowledged a “cascade of faint stars tumbling down", from the cluster.
