Description

Abell39 is a planetary nebula located in the constellation of Hercules. There are countless tiny galaxies in this field of view, but most all are tiny smudges, a couple of which are seen through the faint wall of the nebula.  The central star has shifted about .1 light years off center.  The nearly spherical nebula itself is about 2.6 light years in diameter and is about 3300 light years away, and the wall is about a third of a light year thick. Its relatively smooth surface shows some faint irregularities in surface brightness.
