Description

NGC 4565, The Needle Galaxy, is an edge-on spiral galaxy about 30 to 50 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices. It lies close to the North Galactic Pole and has a visual magnitude of approximately 10. First recorded in 1785 by William Herschel, it is a prominent example of an edge-on spiral galaxy.

This is one of a series of six galaxies I imaged through out April of this year. I have had difficulty this year in the processing of broadband images. I had to go back multiple times to finally complete one of the images to a level I was satisfied with. Its strange how you seem to be doing well with the processing then just hit a wall, cant explain it! All I can say is I am looking forward to some narrowband targets coming back and putting galaxy season behind me.

I changed my approach to this image and I'm hoping I went in the right direction.

Hope everyone is well

Dan.
