Description

At the top we have NGC 7635, the Bubble nebula, also known as Caldwell 11. It’s about 7000 light years from us (so its in our own Milky way galaxy) in the constellation Cassiopeia.

Towards the bottom we see NGC 7538 at 9000 light years in the constellation Cepheus, no exciting name that I know about, but it does contain the largest known proto-star, at 300 times the size of our solar system - a humongous object.

This image was my first attempt at dealing with the large number of satellites that have impacted my images recently. About 1 in 10 of my individual frames usually have a satellite line run through and I used to just discard them. Now I’m deliberately taking many more images (120 individual exposures in this case) and using a sigma rejection approach (2.8).

The 120 individual frames (30 each with red, green, blue and luminance filters) that make up this image were taken over two night in August 2020 from my backyard at Ames lake, Redmond, WA. — at Ames Lake. Redmond Washington.
