Description

Kalbarri national park is about 600km north of Perth in Western Australia. Best known for exposures of the Ordovician Tumblagooda sandstone, this 440 million year old beach contains evidence of the emergence of creatures from the oceans to the land, in the form of 2m long giant scorpions called the Eurypterids. Here, the Murchison river has cut down into the ancient strata and left behind the features seen here, the small arch known as 'Nature's Window'. Looking to the north is the Cygnus arm of the milky way, with Jupiter high overhead.
