Description

Sun in Ha, Jigsaw pieces of the Active Regions - 20230118

After capturing the individual active regions, I re-captured the same regions, but then in a more structured approach, in an attempt to build of a mosaic of the regions and their surrounding area.

Sadly, I couldn’t complete the jigsaw, and some of my pieces didn’t want to fit together …

Although all of the panels link together, the PhotoMerge wasn’t able to stitch them together in areas where any prominent details were a bit too subdued. For instance, AR3190 area couldn’t be linked to AR3184, although they clearly link together. The same goes for the AR3192 area. Not sure if this is down to the limitations of the stitching software (Adobe Lightroom/Photshop PhotMerge), or down to the way the images have been processed seemingly giving the impression of a central bright core of the image … or just given by the changes and shifts in the boiling surface details of the sun.

My biggest jigsaw piece contained 5 panels, the others were limited to 2 panels …

I’m continuously running into the limitations of Adobe PhotoMerge. Also annoying that the colour of the missing patches isn’t customisable and also is filled with a blaring white, which detracts from the easy visibility of the image, which prompts me to switch to perhaps PTGui. I’m trying to run a couple of trials, before I decide to buy the license. Any advice and sharing of experience on this, is welcome …

Still, an interesting attempt to build up a mosaic of the sun …
