Description

The well-known M31 Andromeda Galaxy. This image was made using the Fujifilm GFX100 fotocamera. This camera has a medium-format sensor (44*33mm) with a total of 100 Megapixel. Interestingly, the pixel-size is 3.8 micron, the same as a camera like the ASI1600.

A huge thank you to Ted Ishikawa, who was able to arrange a camera-adapter for this camera to connect it to my Tak TOA-130 telescope (https://astrohutech.store/product/5031-fujifilm-gfx-adapter/)

Processing this image was quite a bit of a pain, mainly due to errors from my side. Different rotations between subsequent nights, a little hair on the sensor that moved during the night, so could not be removed through flats, etc. Also, processing 80 subs of 200MB each was not easy on the computer. Overall, I think I've lost some of the colour in the process.

On the positive side, the camera performed flawlessly and was able to generate a pretty flat image all the way into the corners. I would not recommend this camera as a default astro-imaging camera. I have the camera for completely different purposes and wanted to try out it's potential behind the telescope.
