This wide field image of the region around the Bubble Nebula (Sh2-162) and the Lobster Claw (Sh2-157) was captured over the course of three nights in January 2020 using a short telephoto lens and dual narrowband filter. There are a few other interesting objects at the periphery like the Wizard Nebula at the bottom of the image. This one took a bit of work since I only get about an hour of useful imaging at this time of year and the field of view passing by nearby light pollution sources and obstructions. I really love the Lobster Claw so I was happy to get a passable final result.

Imaged with 85mm/F1.4 Rokinon at F/2, STC Duo Narrowband Clip Filter, and full spectrum modified Nikon D5300.

Pre-processed using PixInsight Batch Pre-Processing (BPP) script. Images calibrated using darks, bias, and flats. Extracted red/green/blue channels using BatchChannelExtraction script. R, G, & B channels registered and stacked independently using StarAlighment and Integration. R channel data gives the Ha image. Averaged G & B channels using Pixelmath to generate OIII image. Total integration time of ~2.5 hours using 38 subs at ISO200x240 sec. R and Average of G+B channels individually post-processed in Pixinsight: Cropped, gradient removal with ABE, MLT for noise reduction, stretched using masked stretch, Curves Transformation, TGVDenoise for noise reduction, HDR transform, Local histogram transform, morphological transform to shrink stars.
