Description

Well I continue with the massive learning curve that is my new kit and step into multi filter imaging

Selected the bubble nebula as target cause I love it!

My ZWO Electronic Auto Focuser arrived .. after much delay ... and once I had got some M3 screws I was able to attach it to my Orion Astrograph

Using NINA I didn't get an autofocus v shape ... I got a right hodge podge of different directions .. on the first night the resultant focus was terrible , made some adjustments to parameters on the second night hodge podge was less and focus was decent but I think more by accident than design I need to measure backlash and adjust for that ... see what happens then.

First night guiding wasn't brilliant but stars not too bad in the centre ... didn't try using my new tilt adjuster after trying last time and it made things worse lol.

Second night ... oh dear ... just about to start the sequence when the scope went crazy and hit the pier ... panic ensued ... turned it off after about thirty seconds

After I got it all set up again started trying to plate solve and would never make that final adjustment ... tried guiding and RA was terrible with drift that was never compensated ... I got stuck with a "mental valley" that the tripod bashing must have caused a mechanical problem ... spent two hours tightening things , rebalancing, calibrating doing star cross tests etc etc

All the time the beautifully clear skies were a wasting

Finally spotted that a box had some how unchecked in EQMOD ... as soon as I checked it ... guiding was the best I have had !

Got three hours HA on first night and 80 minutes Sii and Oiii on second night so these channels were more noisy in final image

Spent most of today processing and have come up with is ... which I like

So given all this I have called the image "Hubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble" I hope you can see why lol
