Description

M61 captured with the RASA 8 and ASi2600MC, 12 hours total.

Several other galaxies visible around. Processing was mostly focused on revealing the trail of dust coming out of the galaxy, sacrificing a bit of the other parts of the image and adding noise. But I thought this dust was very interesting! I seems to be a tidal tail, which is visible better on the final revision which I reprocessed carefully after cropping.

EDIT: It seems like another user has seen the tail before, and so it confirms it is not a smudge or other artefact! See here: https://www.astrobin.com/jvnqpt/Q/
