Description

This  Astrobin Debut Object is a small, faint planetary nebula located 9000 light years away in the constellation of Puppis at a declination of -19 degrees.  It is a magnitude 16 PN which spans 1 arc-minute in our apparent view.  This corresponds to the typical PN diameter of 2 light years.

This PN is one of the many interesting entries in the Kohoutek PN Collection, discovered by the Czech astronomer Dr. Luboš Kohoutek.

Like many PN, the outer rim is stronger in HII while the inner section is stronger in OIII. The elliptical PN seems to be breaking out at the top and bottom.

It is always a sad day for me when I cannot see the central progenitor star in an imaged PN.

This PN looks a bit like Abell 29 and Abell 82, although it is located much further away than those PN so less detail is seen here.
