Description

This lens has been the darling of my medium FL lens for a number of year, delivering exceptionally crisp images across the whole width of a 35mm film. It turns out to be also an exceptionally well corrected lens for field aberrations at its maximum relative aperture of f/2.8 (48.2mm aperture) when coupled with DSLR up to APS-C size. There is hardly any coma even in the corners and the only, but signficant, drawback is the amount of longitudinal chromatic aberration. A minus-violet filter would put paid to those purple halos but a slight different focal point between red and green/blue still remains, showing in the reddish halos in the brighter stars. Overall the average FWHM is well contained within 2-2.2 pixels thus delivering very sharp images, especially if the lens is coupled with a monochrome imager using filters.
