Description

Another snapshot of NEOWISE, this one was an attempt to get in a little closer to capture the dust and ion tails. I used my 18-200mm kit lens, and the optics are let's face it, garbage. There was awful lens distortion and vignetting that I had to fight in post processing, not to mention the optics at 135mm are a slow f/5.6. I had to use a higher ISO to compensate, which of course brought noise into the shots. I did calibrate with darks, which helped quite a bit. The comet was in the light pollution from Sheboygan and when it got out of the atmospheric muck and the tree line, dawn started breaking. Deck stacked against me, I was able to eeek out a relatively OK image of the comet. Just giving you pixel peepers a heads up....it's ugly!
