Description

Ngc2403 (also known as C7) is a spiral galaxy located in the constellation Giraffe, relatively close to our solar system (about 8 million light years). Despite a magnitude of 8.9 it is very faint and its spirals require long exposures to be resolved. Its shape and composition are very reminiscent of the Triangle galaxy (m33), in fact in its core there are large areas of ionised hydrogen (HII) that favour the birth of young star systems.
