Description

IC443 named also the Medusa is a nebula that originated from a supernova event that took place thousands of years ago. NASA’s latest research estimates the age of this supernova remnant to be tens of thousands of years, which aligns with previous work that estimated IC 443 to be about 30,000 years old. IC443’s true age remains in question, as other scientists have inferred much younger ages of about 3,000 years.

I shooted this picture by accumulating a lot of Ha images, so to enhance the very faint Ha regions around the core of the nebula. I decided to stop after accumulating nearly 20hrs integration of Ha signal, but I think that one may easily go to 50 hrs to capture the deepest details of this fascinating nebula. I was BTW suprised by the strong intensity of the SII signal.

I hope that you will enjoy this new version among the hundreds already shooted by many valuable astrophotographers.
