This is my first time aiming at the Tadpoles Nebula. During the past week, we had two clear nights in a row and I grasped the chance and took an incredible 13h of total exposure, which is way above my average acquisition time. I managed to take pictures from 6 pm until 2 am on both nights, and I've realised that the trajectory of the Tadpoles Nebula fits perfectly the little shred of sky above my backyard free from buildings and street lights (incidentally that gives me hope for the Flaming star Nebula too!). I thought that having a wide field image would be a good idea so I've used the 380mm GT-81 refractor; now, after seeing how rich in features is the Tadpoles area, I kinda regret I didn't use the 800mm Newtonian. I guess this could be a future project, although I doubt we're going to have two clear nights in a row anytime soon. Considering that all the acquisitions were done with an almost full moon, I'm quite happy with the result although I'd like to improve the colour balance and the saturation...but I guess it would be a matter for future revisions!

Description: Different colour balance, a bit more greenish but I think I managed to pull a bit more of the Nebula's cyan core. Better background removal, done on the individual S, H, O layers rather than on the final RGB composite image.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
