Description

North is up in this image. NGC 6384 is a barred spiral with ring feature - SAB(r)bc. It is in a somewhat busy star field, but otherwise mostly alone with only a few background galaxies. In the upper right is LEDA 1316476 along with two GALEX mission objects (GALEXASC J173126.94+071403.9 and GALEXASC J173126.05+070941.0). None of these background objects have a redshift measurement. NGC 6384 has a redshift independent median distance estimate of 0.0675 billion light years; it has a redshift distance estimate of 0.0727 billion light years (roughly in agreement with the independent estimate). These galaxies and some of the brighter stars are identified in the annotated image. Horizontal FOV is approximately 38 arc minutes (0.85 arcsec/pix image scale on the full size image).
