Description

The Andromeda Galaxy also known as Messier 31, M31, or NGC 224 and originally the Andromeda Nebula, is a barred spiral galaxy approximately 2.5 million light-years from Earth and the nearest major galaxy to the Milky Way. The galaxy's name stems from the area of Earth's sky in which it appears, the constellation of Andromeda, which itself is named after the Ethiopian (or Phoenician) princess who was the wife of Perseus in Greek mythology.

During this autumn, I decided to go big with a 9-panel mosaic of the M31 region. At first, I wanted to show the Ha clouds surrounding the galaxy but quickly abandoned the idea. After more than 10 hours on a panel and no sign of nebulosity, I realized that this will take me years to come to a result. So, I finished the project and used the Ha to enhance nebulae contained in M31. The guider messed up and I had to disable dithering… There is a lot of walking noise on a few lower frames.

This picture is the result of several post-processing iterations. I always struggle with LRGB. If someone knows or uses a good tutorial, please tell me its name!

Zoom in, enjoy! Criticism and advice are welcome!
