Description

Vast planetary nebula whose shell has an ellipsoid shape and its main axis is twice the length of the secondary axis. The main axis is tilted 60 ° from our line of sight. The age of the shell is around 10,000 years and its low density, less than 130 hydrogen atoms per cubic centimeter, implies that NGC 1360 has started to blend into the interstellar medium. A region of low ionized emission is observed near the northeast end of the main axis. This region moves faster and is younger than the shell of the nebula. It would be located at a distance of approximately 1,700 light years.

This image was produced with the Ha - Oiii filters and the composition was inspired by the method proposed by the author of The Coldest Nights
