Description

Rising from a sea of dust and gas like a giant seahorse in the constellation Orion, the Horsehead nebula (IC434) is one of the most photographed objects in the sky. To the left of it is the Flame nebula (NGC2024).

My original plan was to do HaRGB and I collected Ha data using the Triad filter and RGB data using the Optolong L-Pro filter. The stacked image had horrible reflections from the star Alnilam (that is not even in the field of view) and the Orion nebula. I ended up scrapping the data and changed the orientation.

This time I went just 6.5 hours of data with the Triad filter. I barely escaped the light reflections and went with the processing workflow and the end result is much more pleasing. RGB stars would be nice but with so many bright stars, I am not going to pursue that option.
