This is a small portion of an extensive molecular-cloud complex near the star Vela. It is not a well-studied area, and not much is written about it. The greater cloud complex probably consists of at least 3 large clouds, with, possibly, an on-going collision between two of them.

The appearance of some parts of this nebular region is that of a planetary nebula--a bubble--or actual nested bubbles. I’ve not found any analyses that support that interpretation, however.

Processing (HSO version): This image does not follow one of the common Narrowband palettes. Red is dominated by Ha, blue is almost entirely OIII, and green is a mix of SII and OIII. The stars have been replaced by those from a color-calibrated RGB version of the image.
