Description

One of the gems of the sky, M45, the Pleiades, the Seven Sisters. This spectacular and very popular object is an open star cluster containing middle-aged, hot B-type stars in the north-west of the constellation Taurus. Illuminated by these "B" type stars is a cloud of interstallar dust that these stars are passing through. This dust was once thought to be remnants of the star forming cloud, but is now understood to be a chance encounter with intersetllar dust and good fortune for us.

The stars of the cluster were formed some 100 million years ago.

After smoke from the fires raging in California finally cleared, I am able to do some imaging!!!

Far less important than the efforts to contain the fires and the tremendous loss others have suffered. It is however symbolic of the beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains, and their tremendous capacity to recover...
