Description

NGC 2264 the Cone or Christmas tree Nebula.

The Cone Nebula is a famous H II region located in the constellation Monoceros, the Unicorn. It lies at an approximate distance of 2,700 light years from Earth and is located in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way. The nebula is thought to be 7 light years across. The nebula is part of the larger star forming region around the Christmas Tree Cluster.

Taken from my back garden 4.1 hours of data over 3 sessions due to the weather. RASA 11 V1 with a ZWO EAF and mirror locks off, always works for me, in terms of holding the mirror in place.

I processed this image with StarTools which I believe is a bit of a bargain for £35, also Ivo the founder developer was super helpful in getting me going with it. I found that processing was quicker than using PI as it makes use of the GPU when processing.
