NGC1499 California Nebula
The California Nebula is an emission nebula located about 1,000 light-years from Earth. It stretches over 40 light-years in length, and owes its reddish glow to the Ha and Hb gases in the nebula, excited by nearby star Xi Perseus, the bright star to the right. North is to the left.
