Description

Here we have an attempt at another couple of gems of the Milky Way in Scutum.

IC1287 is a blue reflection nebula. I find the interweaving of the blue nebulosity to be particularly interesting. NGC6649 an open cluster and in the lower left quadrant of the image is a very small planetary nebula, G020.0-00.6.

I have struggled a bit with the processing of this one trying to find the right saturation level generally and trying to decide how much HA to allow in particular. I do not believe there is a lot of HII in this area but there is some. So it's a question of whether to show a pretty picture or something more "real". I wound up with about 25 different versions of this, some including a bright star on the left side of the image that I ultimately decided to crop out. And then I needed time away from this to re-set the eye so to speak. This is the ultimate result that I decided to publish.

If anyone fights this battle, I'd like to hear your comments about how you reconcile all of this. I find it to be a very interesting topic.

Clear Skies and good health to everyone and of course, comments and/or criticism always welcome!
