Description

I bought a second hand QHY9 with the 8300 sensor. It's been a trial getting first light with this camera. First QHY drivers have been a nightmare. I managed to find some workarounds to the issues and cobbled together a first light. Of course, it happened during the full moon, which is perfect for testing out new gear, etc...

I still have some driver settings to dial in. My Gain is perfect, but offset is way too high. Will be doing some more testing to get it right. Also, flats were terrible. I'm using 1.25" filters with this 4/3 sensor and there is enough space between the sensor and the filters there is a serious vignetting. My flat panel doesnt do a good job matching up, so will try a more diffuse light source and see if that helps. Voyager auto-sky-flat will be by next try.

Fortunately the HA is so strong in this target that the signal overwhelms the vignetting and the slight miscorrection is not noticed. I processed this as Lum to cover up the blemishes. Also, Oiii signal is pretty washed out, and I didnt get enough of it. So I had to do some interesting channel fitting to get it to come out.

Sii signal is stronger than I thought it would be in this target.

All said, I'd like a little more contrast to work with, but when the sky looks like milk from a VERY bright full-moon.... you get what you get. lol.. C&C welcome.
