Description

Ran into a few hurdles with this image.  My original strategy was going to be taking two Oiii and Sii subs for every Ha sub to see if I could finally start getting some clean Oiii integrations.  After 3 nights of imaging I integrated and found that my Oiii was still very noisy and heavy with gradient so I figured I'd try to recover by getting a super clean Ha integration and using it as luminance.  I spent an entire night taking only Ha subs during the full moon.  There was quite a bit of gradient in the incoming subs but I chalked it up to starting the sequence low on the horizon. The next day I integrated a new Ha frame and had an absolutely horrible gradient that I could not correct.  I looked at where the moon position was in stellarium and found it was only 10 or 15 degrees away! An entire night of subs in the trash.  I decided to focus on some other targets until the moon wandered away from Auriga.  I used one more night of only Ha subs and found there was only marginal improvement in the integration.  Decided to move on with processing and struggled with finding colors that I liked and as a final Hail Mary decided to try OHS combination rather than SHO or ForaXx and finally got something I liked.  Not my best work but I'm pleased with it for now.

Also, GO WEBB!  I woke up early Christmas morning with my youngest daughter and we both had fun playing and watching the launch before opening gifts.  I'm looking forward to see what it will find out there.
