Description

In Ngc6914 (Cygnus constellation) we can find three types of nebulae, reflection nebulae (blue color) that shine thanks to the nearby stars found in the other nebulae that surround them, the emission nebulae that emit hydrogen. And then there are the dark nebulae.

It is a zone of young stars of different masses and temperatures. They are the ones that reflect light in nebulae. We highlight LBN 273 and LBN 281 and dark nebulae, among which LDN 897, LDN 899 and LDN 900 stand out.
In this small region of Cygnus (6,000 light years) type O and B stars are abundant, this area is called Cygnus OB2.

Ngc6914 was discovered in 1881 by french astronomer Édouard Stephan.
