Description

At the tail of the constellation of the Swan, next to the star Deneb, are the nebulae of North America (NGC 7000) and the Pelican (IC 5070), both corresponding to a single HII region, Sh2-117, which is superimposed a band of dust that sculpts the characteristic shapes of these objects.

To capture this region under urban skies, more than 40 hours of integration have been necessary, despite being classified as bright nebulae. Although the use of narrow band filters allows longer exposures, it is inevitable that some of the light pollution will reach the sensor. There is no substitute for dark skies.
