Description

After long thinking planetaries were too small for my FOV, I was excited to discover how relatively large and particularly bright M27 is. I would encourage anybody with a small refractor to go after this target!

I imaged M27 over several nights, until I knew I'd have in excess of 2 hours of useable data. After my first round of processing, I decided to re-do just the stars from scratch, stretching entirely in Photoshop and trying my best not to blow anything out. I used Adobe Camera Raw a fair bit (thank you @wsg !) on both the stars and the nebula.

I sat on this for a week before posting, doing small tweaks here and there. I'm happy to share it, and I hope to get more time on it someday, after I have a go at a few more late-summer & fall targets.
