Description

The object on the right side of the image, IC 443 / Sh2-248, is a supernova remnant located 5000 light years away in the constellation of Gemini at a declination of +23 degrees. Nicknamed the Jellyfish Nebula, it spans about 70 light-years and its apparent size is twice that of our full moon. Much of the central nebula area is obscured somewhat by a large molecular cloud in the foreground.
