Description

Messier 16 - the Eagle Nebula as seen on the night of July 13, 2020 from Cherry Springs State Park in northern Pennsylvania, a Bortle 2 site. This was my first time imaging the iconic nebula, whose primary feature, aka the "Pillars of Creation", was made famous by the Hubble's outstanding images. This image consists of 17 x 3 minute exposures stacked and post-processed using Rawtherapee, Sequator, RNC-Color-Stretch, and Photoshop. I used a Nikon D750, Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 AI-S ED lens + Nikon TC-301 2x Teleconverter, and an AstroTrac. The exposures were shot at f/2.8 (f/5.6) and ISO 1600.
