Description

I set up a system to receive geostationary GOES 16 images. GOES satellites continuously view the Western Hemisphere approximately 22,300 miles above Earth. The GOES-R Series Program is a collaborative development and acquisition effort between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to develop, launch and operate the satellites. Through Software Defined Radio technology, an antenna, low noise amplifier, computer interface RTL-SDR) at a very low cost.

GOES broadcast details:

HRIT / EMWIN transmission 400 kbps

Freq 1694.1 MHz

Bandwidth 1.205 MHz

BPSK modulation (called binary phase shift)

Linear polarization - vertical displacement

I used

Positive Notebook 2GB HD 320GB

One RTL-SDR V3 dongle, NooElec LNA SAWBird + GOES 1.69GHz

A 2.4 GHz parabolic grid antenna (modified)
