Description

NCG 1499 in SHO Hubble Palette

Data acquired over 7 nights in 2021: 10 Oct, 19 Oct, 20 Oct, 28 Oct, 31 Oct, 2 Nov and 4 Nov.

The SHO Channel Combination was processed with PixInsight BackGroundNeutrlaization and ColorCalibration, and SCNR was subsequently used to remove green oversaturation. Most denoising, sharpening and final color adjustments were made on a starless image made using StarXTerminator. The SII Master frame stars were then placed back into the image using LRGB Combination, with RG&B unchecked. The best final image was made when adding the stars back through a star mask, so not to minimize the color and contrast of the main nebula with the dimmer background of the stars only image.

Looking back at master frames and results in the final image, my next attempt at this object would be to acquire a huge amount of OIII data, perhaps 4-5 times that of the total of Ha and OIII combined. OIII is weak but very much present and should not be marginalized as I did during these subframes acquisition.
