Ein wahrhaftiges Spektakel liefert der aktuell am Nachthimmel beobachtbare Komet C2022/ E3 (ZTF). Der mittlerweile in den sozialen und auch öffentlichen Medien als Grüner Komet bezeichnet, zog das letzte Mal laut Berechnung vor 50.000 Jahren an der Erde vorbei, zur Zeit der Neandertaler. Die Aufnahme ziegt den Kometen in einer Entfernung von ca. 46 bis 48 Millionen km zur Erde. Eine dicke anhaltende Wolkendecke versperrt seit Wochen die Sicht auf die Sterne im Südwesten Deutschlands. Um so mehr bin ich froh, die Nacht zum 19.01.23 genutzt zu haben, um dieses Foto zu erstellen. Viel tolle Aufnahmen sind mittlerweile international festgehalten. Mal sehen was uns der Reisende noch für spektakuläre Aufnahmen aufzeigen wird. Ich drücke uns allen die Daumen und hoffe das Bild gefällt. Gerne könnt ihr mir einen Kommentar da lassen. Das würde mich sehr freuen.

Comet C2022/ E3 (ZTF), which can currently be observed in the night sky, is a real spectacle. The now known as the Green Comet in social and public media passed by the earth for the last time according to calculations 50,000 years ago, at the time of the Neanderthals. The image shows the comet at a distance of about 46 to 48 million km from Earth. A thick, persistent cloud cover has blocked the view of the stars in southwest Germany for weeks. I am all the more glad that I used the night of January 19th, 2023 to take this photo. Many great shots have now been captured internationally. Let's see what other spectacular shots the traveler will show us. I keep my fingers crossed for all of us and hope you like the picture. You are welcome to leave me a comment. Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
