Description

A recent update: this field has been reprocessed and published on July 5th, 2021 as Hubble Picture of the Week - One of the Greats

Just a small part of Perseus cluster of galaxies captured by Hubble Space Telescope. The most prominent galaxies in this field are UGC 2665 spiral galaxy (356 million LY) and lenticular galaxy 2MASX J03193743+4137580 (about 394 million LY from us).

According to Wikipedia, the Perseus cluster is a cluster of galaxies in the constellation Perseus. It is one of the most massive objects in the known universe, containing thousands of galaxies immersed in a vast cloud of multimillion-degree gas.
