Description

Spent a nice night with friends out East of WInnipeg. We were blessed with clear skies with minimal sporadic clouds. During our roughly 45 minute window of moonless astronomical darkness, I shot this image of M20 and it's surroundings. Afterwards I shot the Eastern Veil, as well as some Ha data on M20. The hydrogen data on M20 did was minimally applied to keep a natural look.

I generally prefer a longer focal length for this target, somewhere around 1000mm to keep the star size down and retain more detail, however the surrounding area is pleasant to the eye and so I figured I would give this framing a try.

As with most of my images, this could use more time. During the summer months we usually have only 2-3 hours of astronomical darkness (if any at all ) at our latitude. Still, for less than 2 hours of LRGB, I am satisfied with the result.

Clear Skies All!
