This image is for the competition.
Note from G. Turgeon [ ...I’m doing a processing competition with data from the scope and offering a 4 month subscription to the setup. The raw data is of the Pencil Nebula, around 30 hours worth, Ha/O/LRGB. From these submissions myself and a panel of judges will pick the top 10, who then get to edit a more difficult data set (hint: it’s a dusty galaxy) in LRGB.

This dataset was acquired with the Deep Sky West 'Chile' Planewave CDK17, a dream scope!
f/6.8 and 2939mm focal length.
No coma, no off-axis astigmatism, and no field curvature.
Pinpoint stars across a 70mm image circle.
Rock solid fused silica mirrors with low thermal expansion.
Carbon fiber optical tube assembly for rigidity and fast cooling.
Simple secondary mirror collimation thanks to the fixed primary mirror.

The image was processed as follow:

1- downloaded 6 files : Luminance, red, green, blue, Ha and O-III
2- Processed file as L-RGB, cropped and saved the file
3- Processed Ha file, cropped and saved the file
4- Processed O-III file, cropped and saved the file
the crop is 1787x1907. I bin the data to save on processing time
5- Layered L-RGB image with NB data, in two steps, one NB at a time.

With this image, the emphasis has been placed on the 'hot' part of the nebula. A balanced histogram did not provide any details of the oxygen 'wisp'. My goal was to bring out the delicate wisp of 'blue' nebulosity.
This project was fun as I learned to layer data.
On March 29, the RASA went into the storage box and the SCT is being prep for galaxy season.
