Description

This region has a lot going on in it making for somewhat of a challenge regarding colors and background. A simple stretch after stacking showed a good deal of reflection nebulosity in the whole of the lower left quadrant. Maybe not as interesting as the clear smaller regions of reflection in the upper and lower left, but it sure makes the small inky patches show well at the bottom. I learned that this can be eliminated in processing, but I wanted to preserve it.

I am sure that an Ha image would show as much redder than this OSC image, but I like that the OSC differentiated the reds in the small embedded stars in the upper left/center from the main body of the Cave Nebula. I believe that such emissions from those embedded regions may be less due to Ha but rather to black body radiation from dust in the near IR and red wavelengths. Speculation for sure, so I will need to get some good filters to analyze this sort of stuff in the future!

This may be a work in progress, since these 40 subs may get enhanced by another 50 or so from another night. Not sure they can add anything and I will need to figure out how to do that. Still dealing with tilt issues. Improved the issue a bit by adjusting camera tilt, but still issues here and there. I believe that the real issue is with the telescope and dread dealing with that.
