Description

This obscure object is a small dim emission nebula located in the constellation of Monoceros at a declination of -8 degrees. This nebula spans 8 arc-minutes in our apparent view. The BFS nebulae catalog was created by Brand, Fich and Stark.

I like the look of the dark nebula in front of the red emission nebula. At least I think that is the order here. The emission nebula has a bit of structure to it.

I could find no information on this object. I couldn't even find any other images of it. As you might guess, this is the first image of this object on Astrobin.

Below BFS 63, the pretty tiny red nebula surrounding 4 bright stars is RNO 78. Below this is an interesting small yellow arc-shaped nebula. This is a variable nebula associated with the star V* V900 Mon, recently discovered in 2011 by astrophotographer Jim Thommes. It is named V900 Mon and was not visible in earlier images of the sky at this location.
