This is a different rendition of the gorgeous "Spitzer View of the Center of the Milky Way" image. This false-color combination uses the 8 micron data for channel R, 5.8 micron for G and 3.6 micron for B. I tried to enhance the structures a bit farther than the original version.
The image spans the galactic intervals: b=+-1.1 deg, l=358.45 to 1.55 deg, being centered at b=0 deg, l=0 deg.
I used data already reduced and mosaicized, available at NASA/IPAC Infrared Science Archive (GLIMPSEII+GALCEN v3.5) (released Jan 2008).
Instrument: Spitzer/IRAC 3.6, 5.8 and 8 micron (I1, I3 and I4)
Acknowledgement: GLIMPSEII SURVEY + GALCEN region. Spitzer Space Telescope, NASA JPL.
