Description

CONTEXT :

I have used a Mitakon Speedmaster 85mm f/1,2 - opened at f/4 -, to get this wide field of view of these 2 frequently imaged nebulas.

The lens and the ASI183MM Pro are mounted on an iOptrom Skyguider Pro, with a ZWO 30/120 guidescope and ASI120MM Mini for guiding.

I produced this image over 3 consecutives sessions of imaging, having eventually a short window of clear sky over Paris since the end of september (except a break of 1 week in Corsica, France).

So I have taken almost 27 hours of exposure in total, splitted in Sii, Ha and Oiii. The last session - Sii - "only" produced 6 hours worth of data on 10 hours exposures, due to clouds coming back...

I probably did my best polar alignement ever with this Sii pass (PA error < 5 arcmin, says PHD2), so I decided to go crazy - for an iOptron Skyguider user - and make 4 minutes subs.

I am quite happy with this little setup and these first results. We can clearly see some nice structures in the Heart, the Fish head , and the Soul.

Hope you enjoy it !

PROCESS :

I have used Siril to stack each series, and align the results for each filters.

I have used the Drizzle option, hence the huge size of the picture (but that may be reduced by Astrobin...).

Streching and comp were then made in Photoshop with the following colormix, to get colors I liked (yes, it is definitely not for scientific purposes :

R : 50% Sii - 50%Ha - 0% Oiii

G : 25% Sii - 75% Ha - 0% Oiii

B : 15% Sii - 15% Ha - 70% Oiii

But that's not accurante in the end, because I have then played a bit with Vibrance, Saturation, using Ha layer as a mask.

I would love to image them in real color now (but clouds are back...), and maybe mix between all of that, just to get the real star colors back maybe. I know some people do that.

Feedbacks are welcome !
