Description

I am often inspired here on AB by @Gotthard and @Gary, who are finding objects that are not shown so often because they are very small. Most of the time they just gain some fame only because they were taken by the HST. Both of these are true of my object today.

Arp 143 is a pair of interacting galaxies (NGC 2444/5) about 181 MLy away. NGC 2445 is characterized by massive star-burst regions that are visible, especially in Hubble images, as huge blue clouds that extend across the entire size of the highly deformed galaxy.

There is no doubt that this is a very challenging object, if only because of its distance, with a size of <2 arcseconds and a brightness of about mag 13.5.
Unfortunately, once again I did not have good seeing that day.
Image processing, not my forte anyway, was also very time consuming. I tried everything with all means at my disposal, especially Drizzle and other techniques.

I would like to join Gotthard and Gary's excellent work with my modest version and hope you like it.

Thanks for watching and take care!
Mike
