Description

The SH2-254 region is a complex of regions H II located at about 8000 light-years of the solar system on the arm of Perseus , in the constellation of Orion.
The two brightest spheroidal clouds are SH2-256, also known as IC 2162, and SH2-255.
The surrounding nebulous regions, such as the extended SH2-254, which forms the westernmost extremity of the complex, appear much weaker and more scattered, while the smaller cloud, SH2-257 , is difficult to identify.
