Description

Still making my way through a series of images I captured during the last lunar cycle. This one contains Copernicus and the Lunar Carpathians. I believe one can easily see the ejecta from the crater projecting in all directions from the impact site. These rays extend in some cases, 800 km from the crater. It is estimated to be 800 million years old.

I also find the string of small craters in the lower left hand portion of the image to be particularly interesting to look at.

I think there is a little bit of noise in the image that could have been mitigated with more exposures. This one was the best 10% of 2,000 frames. In my most recent lunar imaging, have expanded that to 5,000 frames and find the noise profile to be much better. But still, between the actual imaging and things I've learned about processing, incremental improvement can be seen and that is my goal.
