Description

NGC 3576 is a minor nebula in the Sagittarius arm of the galaxy a few thousand light-years away from the Eta Carinae nebula. A popular nickname is "The Statue of Liberty Nebula" because of the distinctive shape in the middle of the nebula.

This image was made using data taken with H-Alpha, OIII and SII narrowband filters, and it allows to see the composition and details of the nebula. The red colors represent Sulphur, the green ones represent hydrogen and the blue ones represent oxygen.
