Description

Camouflaged under a very rich star-field, the spaghetti nebula is a very faint nebula in the constellation of Taurus.. Spaghetti Nebula or Sharpless 2-240, is a supernova remnant (SNR) in the Milky Way, straddling the border between the constellations Auriga and Taurus. Supernova Remnants are the remains of giant stars which burst into a very powerful explosion after they cease their energy generation. it is believed that after its stellar explosion a rapidly spinning neutron star known as pulsar PSR J0538+2817 was left behind in the nebula core, emitting a strong radio signal. This nebula is extremely difficult to observe because its surface brightness is very less and in the foreground lie innumerable stars to conceal it behind them.
