Description

This beautiful galaxy was my actual object of desire for the night, and I'm super happy with the outcome! NGC 3521 is an active barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic. It is estimated to be about 26 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of approximately 110,000 light-years. Due to its irregular halo, it is believed that a collision with another galaxy has occurred. The long spiral arms are irregular and punctuated with gaps, giving them a fluffy appearance.
